Our tours aim to go beyond the obvious, and we don’t neglect the migratory passage through the Algarve. The Sagres peninsula is a key and little-known migration point. In Sagres, we spot many soaring birds, booted eagles, short-toed eagles, and honey buzzards, flying low and close to us, a little lost from their normal route, at this extreme end of the continent battered by ocean winds. These are not the only soaring birds; there may also be the black stork, the Egyptian vulture, and many unexpected surprises. It is also the perfect place for a pelagic tour, where we spot dolphins and seabirds on their migratory passage.
The coasts of the Algarve and Andalusia are also a passage point for a large number of waders, whether in the Ria Formosa, Odiel, or the Donana National Park, sometimes with surprises with the arrival of birds of unlikely species. And of course, a migratory birdwatching tour cannot ignore the Strait of Gibraltar, where hundreds of the most diverse soaring birds can be spotted in a single day. This is a unique experience in a place like no other. It’s the special light of the strait, the sheer number of birds in a single day, the proximity of another continent that looks at us with the same look of wonder with which we see it. All of this is a grand, enormous experience.
The Strait is magnificent, but a tour at this time of year would be incomplete without also visiting Sagres. That is our proposal: the migration periods in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, between Portugal and Spain.
Come and discover an authentic and unknown Portugal!
