Early morning, with stories

As the day passes, we hit the road. Summer in Alentejo invites you to walk in the cool, and, along marked paths and trails, it leads us to appreciate the decline of the day, the horizons, the vegetation and even the animals that we may come across. Let’s see the setting sun in the countryside, the twilight, the arrival of night that invites us to introspection and sharpens our senses. We will encounter the stories, the tales of oral tradition through the voice and presence of a storyteller, who will appear to us in a seemingly unexpected way, at a crossroads, in a forest clearing or in any other place along the route. Dates: June to September Location: To be defined with the contractor. Duration: 3 hours, with the possibility of developing activities of other durations. Participants: Groups of up to 50 people. Price: Upon request. Includes: Personal accident and civil liability insurance, guide and support.

Along the hills and Asparagus

Collection activities are part of Mértola’s cultural heritage.

In times gone by of poverty and hunger, it was in the varied existing wild resources that food was sought, wild asparagus being one of them.

We propose a walking tour along the slopes of the Guadiana River, along paths of flocks and shepherds, enjoying the horizons and harvesting asparagus, which will be cooked with eggs at the end of the tour.

Dates: February and March.
Location: Mértola.
Duration: 4 to 5 hours of activity.
Type: Moderate Route.
Participants: For everyone.
Price: Upon request.
Includes: Personal accident and civil liability insurance, guide and support.

São Barão and the "Túbera"

In the first few days of March, the São Barão mountain range experiences enormous hustle and bustle. The rockrose poppies bloom, the wheatears and larks perform free concerts in the fields and in the sky, celebrating the arrival of good days. On these exceptional days, in a mountain range covered in snow with white rockroses, tuber collectors head to the hills carrying a bag with which they dig in search of this underground delicacy. We propose a climb to the Serra de São Barão along the path, between flowering rockroses, to the hermitage, returning slowly to the village of Corte da Velha where a lunch of túberas awaits us. Dates: February and March. Location: Corte da Velha. Duration: 3 to 4 hours. Type: Moderate Walk. Participants: For everyone. From 1 to 12 participants. Price: upon request Includes: Personal accident and civil liability insurance, guide and support.
