The Castro Marim Salt Marsh Nature Reserve is one of our favorite places for birdwatching in the Algarve at any time of year, but especially during autumn and winter when it receives thousands of birds that come to winter in the south.
Starting from Tavira, Castro Marim is nearby; in one morning you can visit and also explore other nearby places, whether the riverbanks of the Algarve mountains or coastal lagoons.
The salt pans are one of the characteristic habitats of this nature reserve.
