Migration Times- Description
September and October are months of intense bird migration in the south of the Iberian Peninsula.
Our tours aim to go beyond the obvious and we do not neglect the migratory passage through the Algarve. At this time of year, the Sagres peninsula is a key and little-known migration point. In Sagres, we see many soaring birds, booted eagles, short-toed snakes and honey buzzards, flying low and close to us, somewhat lost from the normal route, at this end of the continent buffeted by the ocean winds. It is also the perfect place for a pelagic tour where we will see dolphins and ocean birds on their migratory passage.
At these times, the coasts of the Algarve and Andalusia is also a point of passage for huge numbers of waders, whether in the Ria Formosa, Odiel or Donana Park, and sometimes there are surprises with the arrival of birds of unlikely species. And of course, a migratory birdwatching tour cannot ignore the Strait of Gibraltar, where you can see hundreds of the most diverse birds in a single day. This is a unique experience in a place like no other. It is the special light of the strait, the number of birds in a single day, the proximity of another continent that looks at us with the same look of amazement with which we see it. All of this is a great, enormous experience.
The Strait is magnificent, but a tour at this time would be incomplete without also visiting Sagres. This is our proposal, the migration times in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, between Portugal and Spain.
Come with us in search of an authentic and unknown Portugal!
